I found the clinic’s pricing structure very misleading and unreasonable. I called in the morning and first asked about the consultation fee and was told it was AED 200. Since I already knew that I wanted a cleaning and was not coming for a consultation, I then specifically asked how much the cleaning was and was told AED 300. I therefore came to the clinic expecting to have a cleaning for AED 300. When I arrived, I was then told that I had to pay AED 200 for a consultation in addition to AED 300 for the cleaning. What I don’t understand is why I should be charged a separate consultation fee when I did not book or request a consultation. I booked a cleaning. Of course, I understand that a dentist needs to examine my teeth before or as part of the cleaning, but in my view, that should be part of the cleaning service and its AED 300 fee, not treated as a separate AED 200 consultation. If a consultation is mandatory before every cleaning, then the cleaning effectively costs AED 500 for a new patient, and that is what I should have been told when I specifically called and asked for the price of a cleaning. I called beforehand precisely to understand the cost before deciding to come. Pricing should be straightforward and transparent, especially when an additional service is mandatory and cannot be declined.
